International Academic Executive Board Members

Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin is an Associate Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak Campus. He holds a PhD in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage from IIUM and earlier degrees from Darul Huda Islamic University, India, and the University of Calicut. His expertise covers Islamic jurisprudence, bioethics, and contemporary juristic issues. He has authored several books, including “Fatwa: Methodology of Shafite Scholars in South India,” and has published over 25 research articles on Islamic law and biomedical ethics.

He currently serves as Head of Research and Publication in the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh at IIUM and is the Editor-in-Chief of Islamonweb-English. He also leads the Medico-Fiqh Institute project, which explores the integration of Islamic jurisprudence with modern medical ethics. Besides IIUM, he holds adjunct fellowships at Guidance College, Houston, and Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala.

His teaching includes courses on Islamic jurisprudence and bioethics, and he supervises graduate research in related fields. His work aims to bridge classical Islamic legal thought with ethical challenges in contemporary biomedicine.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Fauzan Bin Noordin is the Deputy Rector at the IIUM Gombak Campus. He is a Professor in Knowledge Technology at the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology and the current Head of the ICT and Islam Research Cluster.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wales, UK, an MBA from Central Missouri State University, USA, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA.

With a distinguished career spanning over a decade, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Dean of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at IIUM and the first Dean of the ICT Faculty at Al-Madinah International University. His expertise includes Knowledge Management, ICT and Islam, and Cloud Computing. He is a prolific researcher, an award-winning inventor, and a frequent speaker at international conferences.

Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout is a distinguished academic and the Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC-IIUM) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Specialising in Islamic Studies, Civilization, Education, and Strategic Thinking, he has over two decades of teaching experience in subjects ranging from Islamic worldview to research methodology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He holds double doctorates: one in Islamic Civilisation and History from Universiti Malaya and another in Education from IIUM.

He has published more than 50 academic papers and authored 10 books on topics such as civilizational renewal, Islamic worldview, education, and strategic planning. His major works include Prophetic Methodology and Social Change (1995), Foundations of Civilizational Renewal (2006), and Strategic Planning Capacity Building for Human Capital Development (2010).

He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Civilization from Universiti Malaya, a Master’s in Islamic Revealed Knowledge from IIUM, a Bachelor’s in Finance, and a Diploma in Human Sciences. He also contributes globally by serving on various international editorial and advisory boards dedicated to Islamic thought.
